I don’t know his current whereabouts, but in St Petersburg during the 1990s a Mr. Kravchenko had a workshop where he manufactured reproductions of the East German ‘MEDI’ three-bolt helmet. The quality of these helmets was amazing but the finish was slightly less good than the real thing. Mr. Kravchenko had a website where the helmets could be ordered. The website has now disappeared, but the helmets still occasionally show up for sale.
The Russian MEDI helmet can be recognized as a reproduction, but in order to avoid releasing these details to the 'fakers', please contact me if you have a MEDI helmet and are worried about its authenticity.
